David Cockfield, MBA, CFA

Mr. Cockfield began his investment management career at the Bank of Canada where he was involved with the open market bond trading operations of the Bank. Later promoted to an Officer of the Bank of Canada, Mr. Cockfield managed the Bank's pension fund portfolio reporting to the senior management of the Bank, until such time he was transferred to the Bank's Toronto Branch as a liaison with Canada's largest financial institutions.
He returned to investment management at one of Canada's largest trust companies where he became the head of their Investment Division. Eight years later he co-founded an investment counseling firm where he served as both President and Director for 20 years. In 1999 Mr. Cockfield joined Ontario's oldest investment counseling firm as Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager, where he resided for the next nine years. After two years with another investment counseling firm, Mr. Cockfield is now serving as Managing Director & Portfolio Manager at Northland Wealth Management.
Mr. Cockfield is a member of The Toronto Society of Financial Analysts, holds the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst, and has twice been a director of the society. He has also been active in the Investment Counsel Association of Canada, serving on the Executive in various capacities including a term as President. Mr. Cockfield earned his BA in Economics from Queen's and a MBA from the University of Toronto.
Appearing regularly on BNN TV, Mr. Cockfield shares his views on markets, and is also referenced in both radio and print media.
Mr. Cockfield has cared for a number of clients for decades and is now managing portfolios for the grandchildren of those original clients.
